Response
In accordance with the response in VICC Query #3387 Take down of adhesions, VICC considers removal or resection of adhesions to be synonymous with adhesiolysis.
The response to VICC Query #3387 Take down of adhesions is reproduced below.
'VICC research indicates that adhesiolysis is surgery that is performed to remove or divide adhesions or scar tissue in order to restore normal anatomy and function. Therefore VICC considers that when in reference to adhesions, terms such as 'taken down', 'divided', 'released', ‘dissection/dissected’, ‘stripped down’, ‘separated’ or 'freed' are synonymous with adhesiolysis.
In the scenario cited, follow the Index entry Adhesiolysis - see also Division/adhesions: Division/adhesions/abdominal to assign 30378-00 [986] Division of abdominal adhesions.
You may wish to make a public submission to ACCD for improvements to the Index.'
